Championing Justice, Fighting For You!
Attorney Profile / Perfil de Abogada
Samantha Tirado, JD, SPHR
Licensed in KS and in the U.S. District Court-District of Colorado
Growing up in Spanish Harlem as the daughter of Puerto Rican parents, I learned early on what it means to overcome barriers. As a first-generation college graduate, single mother, and the first attorney in my family, my path to establishing Tirado Law Office has been shaped by resilience and determination.
After graduating from Washburn University School of Law and passing the Kansas bar in 2012, I practiced family law before transitioning to a successful 15-year career in Human Resources leadership. This unique combination of legal education and extensive HR experience now fuels my practice, offering clients insights few attorneys possess. I understand workplace dynamics, employment law, and organizational challenges from the inside out.
My life experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to legal practice. When I found myself as a single mother facing wage garnishment, I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. This personal journey through financial hardship gives me a deep understanding of what my clients face when they come to me for bankruptcy assistance. I know firsthand the stress, fear, and uncertainty that comes with financial struggle, and I bring that empathy to every bankruptcy case I handle.
Similarly, my perspective on criminal defense comes from personal experience. My husband, now a recovering alcoholic, had several encounters with the criminal justice system while under the influence. This experience taught me an important truth I share with all my clients: being charged with a crime does not make you a bad person. Sometimes good people make mistakes or find themselves in difficult situations, and they deserve compassionate, effective representation.
As a bilingual advocate fluent in Spanish, I'm passionate about making justice accessible to our diverse community. My practice areas include employment law, personal injury, criminal defense, and bankruptcy, where I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to each case.
My vision for Tirado Law Office extends beyond legal representation. It’s about honoring my family's legacy, particularly my father who proudly told friends "My daughter is a lawyer" during his final days, and my grandmother whose encouragement "Yo voy a ti" ("I'm rooting for you") still guides me today. Every client who walks through our doors receives this same commitment: I am fighting for you, believing in you, and dedicated to overcoming the barriers that stand between you and justice.
